Remember the cute couple in Houston?

I featured their long distance design project here.

It was so fun to work with this young couple on their first home in Houston, Texas -

see their new home and help them with a color palette and design choices via email, text and Skype.

I came across their 'after' photos today and realized I needed to post them!

   The transformation is amazing -

starting with this gorgeous entry staircase which featured outdated golden oak.

With a more neutral color for the walls, a redo of the bannister and spindles and a beautiful new chandelier, it has a fresh, clean contemporary appeal.

Just gorgeous!

The living room was heavy and dark with golden oak paneling

and a massive brick fireplace.  This young couple needed a fresh, clean space

so we painted the paneled walls fresh white

and the ceiling a soft grayed down blue green

(the ceiling makes this room...)

the soft white paint brings out the detail of the molding and panels

We also added a fresh coat on the mantle and the addition of a mirror

The kitchen had good bones - nice cabinets, but again, heavy oak everywhere

and dated wallpaper borders everywhere

heavy soffits above the cabinets needed to be removed

new countertops and a fresh coat of paint....

Look at the amazing transformation - I LOVE this kitchen now...

fresh creamy white cabinets

beadboard added for farmhouse appeal

the island was painted a contrasting color - love the robins egg blue

these pictures were prior to the back splash being added - and it still looks amazing

nickel knobs and pulls add a finishing touch to the cabinets

we mirrored the island paint color on the inside of this display cabinet

and added turquoise glass knobs!

fresh, clean, youthful and fun

The formal dining room was a page from the 80-90's.

Wallpaper, shiny brass chandelier...

this room really needed a makeover

and even without the furniture - what a transformation!

we switched the colors here and put the living room ceiling color

on the walls

gave the moldings and wainscot a fresh white coat of paint

and added a Pottery Barn chandelier...

beautiful!

This 'mud room' type area was dark and dreary...

and I can't find the before photo - so you will have to take my word for this..

fresh and light filled now - with homey accents

A masculine paneled office was overwhelming with wood grain...

it received a fresh coat of neutral gray...

The Master Suite was a study in peach...

and wallpaper...

Fresh paint works wonders

and finally, the laundry room gets a fresh face...

thats adorable!

Our next project in this house is her photography studio....

but I love how this home reflects their taste and their style

looks fresh and new

and updated!!!
